YORKHILL Hospital will be around £300 better off soon, thanks to a fantastic effort by a young Stevenston cyclist.

Eleven-year-old Sophie Wallace was inspired to help out her younger brother Jack Taylor (four), who has received lifesaving help from the amazing Glasgow facility - and took to the roads on her bike on the hottest day of the year to bring in some much-needed sponsorship cash for the Yorkhill Children's Foundation.

"We're all really proud of Sophie," mum Kim Burns told The Herald on Monday.
