COUNCIL CHIEFS ARE QUIDS-IN WITH MASSIVE SALARIES

PAY for top council chiefs totalled more than half a million pound, revealed unaudited annual accounts for the last financial year.

North Ayrshire Council submitted the Unaudited Annual Accounts for 2011/12 - until March 31, 2012 - at a meeting of the full council on June 27.

In the report of the remuneration of seven senior employees of the council it was revealed they received a combined total of £538,903. Top earner Elma Murray, Chief Executive, earned £126,597 and an additional £11,150 for her role as Returning Officer, making her council income total £137,747.
