A NEW folk club is kicking off in Kilwinning next month.

Three Towns trio the Well Fired Rolls are working together with The Buffs Tavern in Main Street to start a brand new monthly music night.

The Rolls are calling on all folkies to come along and do a slot, or be part of the audience at the inaugural singers night on Friday, August 29, upstairs in the Buffs.

Well Fired Rolls singer Sandy McFadyean said: “We’re very excited about starting a new folk club in Kilwinning.

“We recently played at Strathaven Folk Club in Lanarkshire and were really inspired by the friendliness of the people there and the organiser’s approach to running the club.

“We already knew that Kilwinning has some fine singers and musicians, so when Jason offered us the room above The Buffs as rehearsal space we figured why not start a folk club?” “We’re having a singers night to start with as we don’t want the club to be a showcase for our own music, or for people to feel it is just another gig venue.

“We really want people of all ages to come along and make the club their own.

“The more people who can participate in playing, singing or sharing some poetry the better it will be.

“At future band nights we will make sure there are floor spots for local musicians to showcase their talents at the club.” “Everyone is welcome and for a fiver a head there will be snacks at the interval and a free drink for everyone who comes along.

“We will also be doing the soon to be famous ‘Well Fired Reverse Raffle’ which is always a great laugh and can get pretty intense as you get near to finding out who will win.” The Club will meet monthly above the Buffs and some of the amazing folk singers and groups performing throughout the autumn will be announced shortly.
