THE community of Dalry has been left in a state of shock after an 11-year-old schoolboy died on Hallowe’en in what is thought to have been a tragic accident.

Emergency services were called to Blairlands Drive at 8.30pm where Jack Docherty – a pupil at St Palladius Primary School – was found injured.

He was rushed to Crosshouse Hospital, where he later died.

Head Teacher at St Palladius Primary School Pamela McCallum said: “Our school community has been devastated by the news of Jack’s death.” “He was a much loved and valued member of our school community and will be sadly missed.” “Jack loved being involved in school life and was quick to volunteer for activities, clubs and any extra responsibilities.” North Ayrshire Council Leader Willie Gibson said: “We would like to express our sincere condolences to Jack’s parents and family at this very sad time.

“Jack was a very popular and talented boy and will be very sadly missed by teachers and fellow pupils.

“We are offering appropriate support and help for all pupils at St Palladius Primary School and other schools in the Dalry area.”
