Young children in North Ayrshire looking to get active on a Sunday morning should try out North Ayrshire Athletic Club’s Mini Athlete’s programme.

The programme is aimed at young people between three and seven years old who are interested in learning the basics of athletics.

Mini athletes will enjoy an introduction to sport with fun games and specifically designed drills to help improve co-ordination, mobility and motor skills.  The Mini Athletes programme is a great social experience for the youngsters, who will learn the fundamental skills of running, jumping and throwing All classes are priced at £2.50.

Club chairman Blair Pettigrew said: “Our mini athlete’s programme is specifically designed to give young athletes aged three plus a strong foundation in the Argentina disciplines of running, jumping and throwing. We welcome new recruits at any time of the year and there is no need to pre-book.” Mini athletics classes run on Sundays 10.30am to 11.15am for three to five year olds and 11.15am to 12pm for six to seven year olds at KA Campus in St Matthew’s Academy, Saltcoats.   North Ayrshire Athletics Club is a community based group based which has grown in popularity since is formed in 2009. It is open to anyone wanting to keep fit or to compete throughout Ayrshire and Scotland. Classes range from the popular JogScotland group to mini athletics and club access programme.
