UKIP’S candidate for North Ayrshire and Arran has been left red-faced after her election leaflet, which is to be delivered to every address within the constituency, has her name spelt incorrectly FOUR times.

Sharon McGonigal is the chairperson of UKIP in Ayrshire and is hoping to upset the odds and become Scotland’s first elected UKIP MP.

But Sharon laughed off the mistake and said there had been 'a load of wonderful variations’ over the years.

When questioned about the error on Twitter Sharon, or @Shazza1uk, said the spelling was wrong on the leaflet but conceded there wasn’t any time to sort the mistake.

She said: “I don’t think there’s time to correct it, the leaflets are out now.

"People will know its McGonigal with 'al’ or 'le’ at the end.” Sharon saw the funny side of things and said: “I know, spelled my name wrong lol.” This was in reply to a tweet saying her printer should be sacked.

With just over a week to go until the election Sharon believes this won’t put off people who are considering voting for Nigel Farage’s party and added: “I hope people will take the time to read it and read our manifesto and vote for me as their MP.”
