1ST STEVENSTON Boys’ Brigade finished off this session with a wonderful display at the Ardeer Community Centre.  The hardworking boys took part in various events throughout the session and this topped it all off.  Eileen McColgan, Acting Captain, said: “We ended with a parents night show where the Anchors danced as stick glow men, and played a game of Simon Says.

“The Juniors danced to Superman and Thriller and the figure marching team showed the parents what they had learned.

"We also had our own BB band performing.

"The company boys really had a lot of fun as some danced as the Village People and they also did a fun act.  “In the awards, our Anchor best boy was won jointly by Gary Dakin and Calvin Murphy, our Junior best boy winner was Alex Stewart our Company best boy was Marc McColgan .

“Our company boys won the Battalion fun run shield this year and our best Drill boy was Alec Leaker.  “Our Endevour award also went to Alec Leaker.  “The Primary 3s received their promotion certificates to Juniors and our Primary 6s received their promotion certificates to Company.

“A special award was given to Garry Webster who has completed 12 years at 1st Stevenston. He is now returning to do officer training.  “We also had a special award of the President’s badge, that is the second highest award in the Boys’ Brigade, presented to John Wilson, John has worked hard for this award by volunteering to help with other sections, on meeting night and also on outing.” It wasn’t just parents and carers on the night, with special guests attending too.

"Thank you to our top table guests, Mr Wilson McLelland, Mr and Mrs Ken Welsh, Mr and Mrs Jackie McBlain and Mrs Jean Robertson.” They will be back again in August with enrolment night.
