STEVENSTON Library has re-opened and continues to serve the town, despite what locals may think.  Residents of the town have been a bit bemused recently after the introduction of an Employment Hub at the site near to the Cross which left the building closed for six weeks earlier in the year.  It has been noted that it wasn’t really clear that the library was back open and this has apparently had a negative effect on the usage.

North Ayrshire Council ensure that the library has re-opened and have asked anyone with any worries to get in touch.  A spokesperson said: “We can confirm that Beattie Library, Stevenston, is open as usual following refurbishment works which ended last month.

Residents can use the library to access a wide range of books, talking books, CDs and DVDs, and arrange free computer access.

“The recent refurbishment works included ICT upgrades and improvements to the library’s décor.

"A new Employment Hub was also co-located within the central location of the library to offer residents support with ICT and skills.”
