COMMUNITY volunteers helped to plant 450 trees at the new Three Towns allotments at the weekend.
The trees were donated to the Three Towns Growers by the Woodland Trust and include some which will help to provide the right environment for hedgehogs to flourish.
Some of the youngsters who helped out on the day made hedgehog houses too. And local tree surgeons donated their time to help by chipping old wood around the site to make a special bark to help the growers.
The allotments opened last year after long hours of work on the site, near Elm Park, Ardrossan. And the plots are now developing nicely.
