BIG hearted family and friends of a local boy with Cerebral Palsy have raised over £8,000 for a fund to help him communicate.

And the latest cash windfall for Carter Duncan has come from generous staff and customers at Tesco in Saltcoats and the Mayfield Garage.

The total the amount now raised is a whopping £8100 and the initial target of £8,500 is within touching distance.

The money has been raised through a sponsored walk Goatfell in September, a Sally Buxton Spiritual night in September and the fantastic fundraising by Tesco Saltcoats in conjunction with BP Garage.

The generosity and help from Tesco customers and staff, especially Tracey Gemmell has been overwhelming.

One customer who won the prize of free fuel from the garage put the prize back in.  So a huge thank you to that gentleman.

The family would also like to thank all the local businesses who were kind enough to donate prizes and offer support over the last few months.

They include the Kandy Bar, Platinum Glamour, Soapy Bubbles, Cally Stores, Pop Inn and The Red Squirrel to name but a few.

Carter has visited the specialist to identify which machine/programmes would suit his needs best and they are hoping he will have his eye gazer in the next few months.

Fundraising continues for Carter with the next event a tough mudder in June.
