COLOURFUL displays of posters in support of the Save Our Ferry campaign are now on show in Ardrossan and Saltcoats Libraries.

The paintings were created by P5, 6 and 7 pupils of Mayfield Primary School in Saltcoats as a project to look at the pros and cons of relocating the Arran and Kintyre ferries from Ardrossan to Troon.

After considering all the arguments for both ports, the pupils gave a massive thumbs up to Ardrossan and decided they wanted to ‘Keep it A to B’.

Ardrossan’s position as the shortest, fastest and cheapest option was a common theme in the posters, with one of the young artists urging decision-maker Transport Minister Humza Yousaf to: ‘Keep calm and save the ferry from A to B’.

Library staff say the response to the exhibition and the campaign in general has been very positive.

One said: “All the library visitors who have seen the paintings think they are ‘ferry, ferry good’!”

The paintings will be on display until the Transport Minister’s decision is taken at the beginning of March.
