A 45-YEAR-OLD man has been reported to the Procurator Fiscal for allegedly purchasing alcohol on behalf of young people from a licensed off sales in Stevenston.
On Monday, February 13 officers from the Three Towns Locality Policing Team were deployed on foot and cycle in the Stevenston area in response to community concerns regarding antisocial behaviour in the area.
About 7.15 pm the man was allegedly seen supplying alcohol to a group of young people in New Street, Stevenston.
Further enquiries by the officers, including the use of public space CCTV, resulted in the man being reported to the Procurator Fiscal.
Sergeant Colin Sykes, of the Three Towns Locality Policing Team, commented “Drinking alcohol under the age of 18 is against the law in
Scotland, but not only that, it can really impact on the health of young people.
“This remains a key priority for the local community and we will continue to work with our partners and pro-actively target anyone involved in purchasing alcohol for young people.”
