LAST Thursday Jamie Greene MSP blasted the First Minister over the Air Weapons and Licensing Act, which is having an adverse effect on a Saltcoats business.

Over the course of three months Mr Brian Jay, owner of Jay’s Wedding Cars, has been in contact with Jamie Greene MSP over the legislation, concerned about the long-term harm to his business.

Mr Greene asked Nicola Sturgeon for clarity over licensing changes, citing that he had contacted various government ministers but had no yet received a response.

Mr Greene commented: “Although I’m pleased that Nicola Sturgeon gave me her assurance that the Scottish Government would respond to my letters, it shouldn’t take personally asking the First Minister to get the government to address a constituent’s concern.”

“Mr Jay’s business suffered because of the Air Weapons and Licensing Act.

“Not enough is being done to assess the impact on individual businesses and it’s putting Scotland’s private car hire industry at risk.”

“I hope now the Scottish Government can now move forward with outlining the specifics of these licensing changes so that Mr Jay can get the certainty he needs for Jay’s Wedding Cars.”
