POLICE have launched an investigation after two petrol stations were broken into in the early hours of this morning.

Officers were called to the filling station at Morrison's Supermarket, Kilwinning Road, Stevenston around 2.30am after reports of a break-in.

The station was closed at the time and nobody has been reported as injured.

A spokesperson said: "Enquiries are at a very early stage, anyone with information is asked to call Police Scotland on 101."

Less than an hour later, Castlebay Service Station on Irvine Road, Largs, was broken into with officers responding to a call around 3.20am.

Investigations are at an early stage into the incident and it is not year clear whether the two incidents are linked.
