POLICE are appealing for information to help trace a man who has been missing from Saltcoats for over a week.
Martin McGettigan, 39, was last seen on Green Street on Sunday, April 2 at around 6pm. He was spotted carrying a rucksack and sleeping bag.
Martin is described as a white man who is approximately 5ft10”, with a slim build, receding hair and brown eyes. He often has an untidy appearance due to the fact he is known to sleep rough across North Ayrshire.
Sergeant Allan Glass, Saltcoats Police Station, said: “Martin McGettigan has a chaotic lifestyle and is known frequent Irvine and Saltcoats town centres.
"He tends to keep to himself, however, having spoken with others in the homeless community as part of our enquiry, there have been no further sightings of Martin since Sunday, April 2. This is very unlike him and with the passing of time there are increased concerns for his welfare.
“I’d like to speak to anyone who has seen Martin McGettigan or anyone who knows of his present whereabouts. I also appeal to Martin to contact either a family member, friend or police to let us know that he is safe and well.”
Anyone with information should contact Saltcoats Police Station via 101.
