A MAN has admitted to placing his parents in a state of fear or alarm by acting aggressively and smashing a glass door panel at their Saltcoats home.

Robert Dickie, of Pladda Road, Saltcoats, appeared at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court last week for sentencing, having previously pled guilty to one charge at an earlier diet.

Dickie behaved in a threatening or abusive manner towards his parents at their home in Sannox Drive on January 23.

The 30-year-old shouted, swore, uttered threats, repeatedly punched and headbutted doors and walls, and punched a glass panel in the hallway door, which caused it to smash and resulted in his injury.

Dickie’s solicitor Rosalind Gallen told Sheriff Alistair Watson to consider some matters in her client’s personal life which “had not been mentioned in the court” beforehand.

She said: “His partner has an eight-year-old son who has recently undergone a bone marrow transplant in Newcastle.

“There’s a letter from a psychologist – April 12 the letter was written.

“It commends the support that Mr Dickie has given the child and continues to give the child.”

Mrs Gallon also said that Dickie had been prescribed medication which he was forced to discontinue because it had caused him health concerns.

The solicitor added: “Obviously he is attending doctors and trying to seek help. It wasn’t agreeing with him.

“As a direct result of this matter he has been put under the care of a psychiatrist.

“He’s on a new regime of medication.

“He says he’s never felt better.”

Sentencing Dickie to a Community Payback Order with 12 month supervision, Sheriff Watson said: “While I feel very sorry about the trouble currently you have in your life, at the end of the day you have a history of behaving in a completely unacceptable manner.

“You have a record.

“I will make a Community Payback Order.

“If you don’t comply you will be back before me and I’m afraid no sympathy will be given.”
