SCOTLAND’S top para-bowlers got a taste of what is to come from next year’s Commonwealth Games after a trip to Australia’s Gold Coast.

And the Three Towns was well represented with Saltcoats husband and wife duo of Billy and Irene Edgar and coach David Thomas all involved in the the Scotland set-up.

The team, along with the full men’s and women’s squads, flew out in preparation for the 2018 games and took part in a training camp to get used to the exceptionally fast greens in Australia before taking part in the eight nations competition over a four-day period and Irene, coach David Thomas, Robert Barr and Sarah Jayne Ewing coaching came home with a silver medal.

This was a top scalp under conditions which are very different from what they are used to.
