THE Ayrshire Independent Living Network recently held an event in Ardrossan to let people know what help is available.
There were 26 organisations there on the day as well as a belly dancer, who was excellent.
There were talks from the Fire Service, Alzheimer Scotland, Centrestage’s ‘Gie it Laldy’ project, Lingo Flamingo and Evelyn Gilchrist manger of AILN explained a bit about what self-directed support can do and how it can be used to keep people living at home longer.
Anyone who missed the event can get in touch with them 01294 475685 or on their website www.ailn.org where information and contact details can be shared.
The website has videos of people talking about the difference self-directed support has made to their lives and information in an easy to understand format.
It is important to note that anyone who requires support is now entitled to choose which way they would like to get it from one of four options, that is what Self-directed Support is.
