ARDROSSAN Accies were last week delighted to welcome over 50 women to the club as they launched Rugby Fit 2017.

The eight-week fitness programme involves a mixture of circuits and high intensity training designed to help women improve muscle tone, stamina and develop a strong core. Some non-contact elements of rugby such as ball handling, passing and kicking to improve reflexes and develop hand-to-eye coordination will be introduced each week.

Coach Brian Reid said: “Rugby Fit is suitable for all fitness levels and is an excellent way to kick start a summer exercise routine. The only person you’re competing against is yourself plus it’s a lot of fun!”

Paying upfront, it costs £10 for the full eight-week programme which includes a free stainless steel Accies branded water bottle. Alternatively, you can ‘pay as you go’ for £2 a session.

Rugby Development Officer Andrew Duncan said: “Our ladies team recently moved up a league and it’s really encouraging to see so many new people showing an interest in the sport and taking part in Rugby Fit. We’re hoping some decide to stay on after eight weeks and join the team”.

Ladies Rugby fit runs every Tuesday night from 6.30-7.30pm, until August 15 and is open to girls and women aged 13 and upwards. To take part, just turn up on the night.
