A PENSIONER is inviting members of the community to a fun day at her Saltcoats garden in support of a charity close to her heart.
Eve Stenhouse and partner Steven are opening their gates to the public this weekend to raise money for Cancer Research.
Many members of Eve’s family have had cancer, so it is a cause close to the 81-year-old’s heart.
Her young step-grandson Finndodd recently received treatment for the disease, and her sister and son-in-law have also been diagnosed.
Eve told the Herald: “My dad died of cancer, my sister’s got cancer, my wee German grandson – he’s only five – he’s just had an operation for cancer.
“Quite a lot of people in my family have had cancer. My son-in-law was a shock because we rely on him to do everything for us.”
Eve is hosting the fun day at her home at 25 Christie Gardens from 12-4pm on Saturday, July 8. The event will include a fashion show, Tai chi demonstration, different games, competitions, prize raffles and more.
There will also be tea, coffee, and soup. Entry to the fun day is £1.
Eve added: “I want to thank everybody for donating gifts for the raffle prizes and for volunteering to help.”
