HEAVY rain didn’t spoil the fun at this year’s Saltcoats Sea Queen Festival as everyone involved seemed to have a blast.
Maria Paterson-Kidd, who helped organise the event, said: “The weather on the Saturday was awful, absolutely dismal, but the kids had a fabulous time.
“Those wee souls that walked in the parade got absolutely soaked but they didn’t seem to care, they were having a great time splashing through the puddles. The kids thoroughly enjoyed themselves
“The weather on Sunday was fabulous, so much more people came out. That made up for it.
“All in all it was a huge success. I look forward to it every year, I just love it. It went exceptionally well. The music was great – everything was fantastic.
“The kids in the Royal Party were absolutely fabulous. They had a ball and enjoyed their meal from the Hip Flask. I want to thank all the hairdressers that did the kids’ hair. They do it free of charge every year, which is just amazing.
“Two councillors came along – Jean McClung and Davina McTiernan – and the MP Patricia Gibson. I’d like to thank the three of them for coming out and supporting us. They all walked the whole parade. I’d also like to thank everyone for coming.”
Make sure and pick up this week's Ardrossan and Saltcoats Herald for all the best photos from the day.
