A 35-year-old man has been jailed for three months after behaving in a threatening or abusive manner and making homophobic comments at Crosshouse Hospital.

Hugh Johnston, of Green Street in Saltcoats, appeared from custody last week at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court.

He pled guilty to one charge aggravated by prejudice relating to sexual orientation.

Johnston shouted, swore, acted in an aggressive manner and uttered homophobic remarks at the hospital’s A&E department on June 6.
