A MAN has been jailed and a woman fined after they both failed to appear at court on a shoplifting charge.

James Cassidy, of Misk Knowes, Stevenston, and Laura Henry, of New Street, Stevenston, appeared at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court last week after failing to appear at a diet on April 24.

Both Cassidy and Henry pleaded guilty to failing to appear at court.

Cassidy, 34, also pleaded guilty to stealing a quantity of clothing from Primark in Irvine’s Rivergate on August 15 of last year.

Henry’s plea of not guilty to the same charge was accepted by the prosecutor.

Cassidy was jailed for three months for the theft and two months, to run consecutive to that, for failing to appear at court.

Henry, 29, was fined £200 for her failure to appear.
