THE latest fundraiser for little Holly McLeod is thought to have raised around £1,000.

Over 40 people took part in MP Health CIC’s sponsored cycle round Millport on Saturday, July 29.

Event organiser, Michelle Welsh, said: “It was great. The aim was to do as many laps as possible. We cycled 202 laps between us all, so that’s over 2,000 miles!

“We had members who couldn’t make it so they just donated instead. I think the total will be about £1,000, but there’s money still coming in.

“It’s a massive community here at the gym and it was excellent to see. There were families, kids, people who hadn’t cycled for years so there was a real mix of people. People really pushed themselves which was excellent. Everybody just came together. We had people coming along supporting us even in the pouring rain. People gave up a lot of their time which I really appreciate.”

Scott Mould, a coach at MP Health, added: “The weather was terrible, absolutely horrendous, but we battered on regardless. The camaraderie was excellent.”

As the Herald has reported previously, six-year-old Holly has cerebral palsy and recently travelled to America for a life-changing operation. Family and friends of the St Anthony’s Primary pupil have been raising funds to pay for her ongoing treatment.

Michelle said: “Holly’s dad had approached us at the gym back in April to see if we could do physical therapy with her to support her and help her to walk. We work with Holly several times a week.”

Michelle said that she’s keeping the Just Giving page open for another few days. You can donate at https://www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/michelle-welsh-1.
