A SALTCOATS woman, who was recently diagnosed with breast cancer, has raised a whopping £2,500 for the oncology unit at Crosshouse Hospital.
Jackie Ballantyne handed over the cheque to staff at Ward 3C this week.
The 37-year-old had raised the money with a fundraising night at Saltcoats Labour Club earlier this month.
Jackie told the Herald: “I’d like to thank everybody for their support and helping me towards the amount I raised. It’s all going to a good cause.
“The oncology unit, they really need all the support they can get.
“The staff were saying to me that they might get a wee TV for the waiting room or for a new chair for treatment – the seats you sit in to get your chemo are actually quite expensive. They’re also needing blood pressure machines as well. It’s amazing what the money can help them get.”
