A MAN who assaulted and injured an Indian restaurant worker after his girlfriend racially abused him has been ordered to carry out 200 hours of unpaid work.
John Joseph Brendan Dorrian and Tracey Mullin, both of Ardrossan’s Hunter Avenue, appeared at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court this week for sentencing, having previously pled guilty to one charge of assault to injury.
Mullin, 42, had also pled guilty to a second charge of behaving in a threatening or abusive manner aggravated by racial prejudice.
The pair assaulted the man at Sugar and Spice in Saltcoats on April 15. Mullin also accused the man of treating staff “like s***” and told him: “Go back to your own country, you black b******.”
Dorrian, 44, was given a Community Payback Order of 200 hours unpaid work with a Supervision Requirement of one year.
Mullin was ordained to appear in December.
