Asda Ardrossan celebrated its 10-year anniversary with a special party on Saturday, September 9 at Ardrossan Indoor Bowling Club.

The store was opened in September 2007 by seven-year-old Murray Scott and 102-year-old Helen Howie.

Paul Blair, store manager at Asda Ardrossan, was at the opening 10 years ago. He told the Herald: “It’s a well-established part of the local community and it’s helped bring a lot of trade and business to the area. So many of our colleagues live and work here.

“We get customers who are visitors to Arran. There’s also a number of islanders who shop in the store.”

He added: “We’re delighted to be celebrating our 10-year anniversary this year and the party on Saturday was a great chance to get everyone together and thank them for all their hard work over the years.

“Of the 65 long serving colleagues, many have begun celebrating their 10 years of service already as we were training our colleagues in local stores up to 12 weeks before the store opened.

“We’re extremely happy that, as a result of the popularity of the store, we’ve also been able to further invest in local recruitment with the addition of 10 new colleagues.

“We really value the custom of the people of Arran, visiting tourists, as well as loyal customers in the local area.”
