KIDS from a Three Towns musical theatre school dressed up for a special awards night recently.

Academy for Creative Talent, which is run by Claire McKenna, held an Oscars Night at Ardrossan Indoor Bowling Club. The sparkling event was to celebrate and recognise all the hard work the kids put in at the academy and was attended by parents and council officials.

Jacqui Devlin, a committee member at the Academy for Creative Talent, said: “It was a great night, all the kids were dressed up. Claire wanted to celebrate all their hard work.

“It was phenomenal. We’re super, super proud. I’m told there were a lot of tired people the next day not wanting to get out their beds!

“All the kids received an award for what they’re good at. A few of the kids were on holiday and couldn’t make it but they’ll still get an award. We don’t want anyone to feel left out.

“There was a raffle, a disco and DJ. All the kids were egging each other on to go up dancing.

“The dignitaries and the paper [Herald photographer Charlie Gilmour] being there made a real difference. It meant so much to us all and we’re so grateful. It was just lovely.

“It’s a real friendship among everyone involved. All the mums and dads get on. When the kids were asked what they liked most about the group, every one of them said the friends they’ve made.”
