A grandfather has spent six weeks transforming his home into a spook-tacular Hallowe’en house of horrors.

The Stevenston home of Tom and Liz Hughes was given a special makeover in time for Hallowe’en this year.

For almost two months, Tom and his brother David spent evenings and weekends hard at work to make sure the spooky house was ready in time for October 31.

Liz told the Herald that the job took six weeks to complete.

She said: “He had done Halloween last year. This year, he said ‘I think I’ll put a witch’s hat on top of the roof’ and I thought no way!

“It’s all lit up at night. There’s a witch’s hat at the front with a big red carpet which is meant to be a tongue that you walk in. There’s also a skeleton tree.”
