People who live in, work in or visit the Three Towns are being invited to help shape an action plan to deliver investment and ultimately bring improvements to life across Ardrossan, Saltcoats and Stevenston.

The action plan has emerged as a result of discussions at the Three Towns Charrette which was held over four days in June this year.

A Charrette is a type of community workshop that brings as many people as possible from a community into the same room to generate and test ideas based on a shared vision for improvements.

The Three Towns Charrette saw people from across Ardrossan, Saltcoats, Stevenston and further afield together to discuss the issues that affect life in the town today, and proposing solutions to bring improvements. By the end of the workshops some key areas for action had emerged:

- Establishing better ways of working together between North Ayrshire Council, businesses and community groups

- Bringing improvements to existing town centres, community centres and transport hubs.

- Recognising the shoreline as a major asset and developing projects that establish it as a key natural resource and attraction for residents and visitors.

- Expanding and caring for greenspaces, including cultivating more local food production.

- Promoting the Three Towns and local events to residents and visitors alike.

From this over 36 potential projects have emerged that could help deliver improvements, these are being used as the start of a community-owned action plan. These draft plans will be exhibited at a drop-in event on Thursday, November 16 between 4pm and 8pm at Saltcoats Town Hall, and posted online at facebook.com/threetownslocalitypartnership.

People are invited to give feedback on the action plan, offer what their priorities of projects to take forward are, and suggest who they would like to see delivering projects.

In advance of the event, if you have any questions you can contact Neil from the Charrette’s project team by emailing neil@icecreamarchitecture.com, calling 0141 237 8592 or online at facebook.com/threetownslocalitypartnership.
