AN Ardrossan couple have told of their shock after a dog they were walking for a neighbour was attacked.

The couple, who wish to remain anonymous, were walking on Thursday, November 2 on the old Shell Site near the town’s North Shore when they say Jura the dog, who belongs to neighbour Linda Graham, was jumped on out of nowhere when playing in a puddle.

They were walking on the same route they do daily after their neighbour and owner of the dog had a hip injury and say they have never seen the other dog before.

The man said: “We were walking along and the staffie came out of nowhere over a pile of boulders. It has just seen red, there was no warning. I usually pick up the dogs when we see other dogs but there was no warning, I just blinked and it was there.”

Now the couple say that the police are doing nothing about it because they said ‘it was just a dog fight’.

They added: “The attitude of the police was that it was just a dog fight. It is becoming too common. What was I to do, just let the dog die? No chance.”

He added that it wasn’t the type of dog and that Jura’s best friend is a Rottweiler, the dog in question just came out of nowhere.

Jura’s owner Linda added: “She is just not herself. She has been waking up at night and shaking. She is the friendliest wee dog but this has been horrendous.

“I have no been to the vet four times in a week with her.

A passer-by who had witnessed the incident called the police but they confirmed to the Herald that no further action would be taken.

A Police Spokesperson said: “We received a report of an incident between two dogs not on leads in Ardrossan on Thursday, November 2. Advice was given to all parties and no further action was taken.”
