AN ARDROSSAN man has hit out after a number of cars were vandalised at the weekend.

The incidents occurred in the town’s Laird Weir on Friday night leaving four cars, a garage and a motorhome covered in paint.

One resident, Mr Donald, told the Herald: “I got a lovely smiley face on my car windscreen but I was lucky all I got was a smiley face.

“It really is not what we needed this near to Christmas. A lot of the cars had obscenities on them but everyone was out cleaning in the pitch black and freezing cold.

“We were very, very lucky that the paint hadn’t stayed on for longer. The kids don’t understand that if we weren’t able to remove it we would have to claim insurance.

“It is getting worse around here, with vandalism in the summer and then when it comes round to Hallowe’en the park looks like Yemen. It is displeasant to say the least.”

Police confirmed that they were investigating the incident.

Chief Inspector Brian Shaw said: “We received a call on Friday, December 1, around 9.50pm with regards to reports of a number of vandalisms. Anyone with any information is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101.”
