ONE of the Three Towns most well-known Police officers has said goodbye to the force as he retires after 30 years of service.

Community Inspector Brian Skimming has worked in Ayrshire for over 25 years and for the last seven and a half years has been the Community Inspector for the Three Towns.

He took centre stage recently at the Police and Fire Rescue Committee as he was presented with a certificate from Ayrshire boss, Chief Superintendent Paul Main and North Ayrshire’s Chief Inspector Brian Shaw.

CI Shaw said: “In Inspector Skimming, we have an amazing individual. It has been a pleasure working with him for the past three and half years.

“His dedication to serving Ayrshire Police over the past 30 years is quite remarkable, in particular the past seven and a half years as Community Inspector for the Three Towns area.

“He made an incredible contribution over that time and he will be a very difficult man to replace.

“We wish him a long and happy retirement.”

“Inspector Colin Convery will take over with immediate effect and he is a very experienced inspector who has worked in response policing in North Ayrshire.

“I look forward to working with him.”

Everyone at the Herald wishes Inspector Skimming a happy and peaceful retirement.
