TWO PEOPLE have appeared in court in connection with a quantity of drugs discovered in Ardrossan.

Daniel Keogh, 47, and Jacqueline Paul, 52, both of Ardrossan, appeared in private at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court yesterday (Tuesday) both charged three times under the Misuse of Drugs Act.

Neither made any plea and Keogh was committed for further examination and remanded in custody, Paul was also committed for further examination and she was released on bail.

The appearances came after a reported £25,000 of drugs, thought to be heroin, were seized at a property in Ardrossan on Monday.

A second male, Steven Crawford, 43, of Saltcoats, also appeared at court charged under the Misuse of Drugs Act, the Road Traffic Act and Criminal Law (Scotland) Act.

He was committed for further examination and remanded in custody.

A third accused in relation to the drugs seizure was liberated from custody and did not appear in court.

Inspector Colin Convery, Saltcoats Locality Team, said: “We have recovered more than, £25,000 worth of drugs and have arrested four people as a direct result of the information we have received from the people of Ardrossan.

“Support from members of the public is absolutely vital to our work and this demonstrates our team’s commitment to acting on the information we receive. We will continue to focus on tackling drugs, and drug related crime, across North Ayrshire.”
