A THREE Towns video maker can’t believe his luck after he was nominated for a prestigious industry award - just two years after taking up the profession.

Lee MacLeod, 42, from Saltcoats, started making wedding videos as a big of fun and as a gift for some friends before it fast became a full-time commitment.

Lee explained: “I started in videography two years ago. My website is www.lmvideo.co.uk. and on facebook it’s www.facebook.com/lmvideographyayrshire, I originally began doing friend’s weddings just for fun and to do it as a wedding gift.

I studied media studies at Reid Kerr in Paisley. It was from there that my interest began in the videography side of things. By doing my friends weddings I was starting to build a portfolio. Word of mouth was a great thing and I started picking up work from that as well.

“The wedding industry is a quite a tough thing to crack and I am managing now to get in to some wedding fayres but again it is very difficult to get into but just have to bide my time.

“Facebook has helped me immensly and I regularly pay for advertising as well. This has generated some good business for me. I have had a good year this year and to be in the finals of the Confetti Awards is absolutely fantastic, I was also a wedding industry expert finalist in 2015 in my first year.”

Lee is grounded and hopes that his laid back approach can see him pick up a gong.
