A 50-year-old woman has admitted to religious prejudice and to trying to bite a policeman.

Jacqueline Cuthel, of Ivanhoe Drive, Saltcoats, appeared at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court last week and pled guilty to two charges. Her plea of not guilty to a third charge was accepted by the prosecutor.

Cuthel behaved in a threatening or abusive manner aggravated by religious prejudice at Glasgow Street in Ardrossan and at Saltcoats Police Office on October 24 last year. She acted in an aggressive manner, shouted, swore and uttered offensive comments.

On the same date at Saltcoats Police Office, Cuthel assaulted a police officer and attempted to bite him.

The case was adjourned for reports until February 20. Cuthel was bailed until that date.
