Police are looking for a cyclist seen on CCTV in connection with an armed robbery at a Saltcoats newsagents.

Wylies’ Newsagents on Springvale Street was robbed by a man with a knife at around 3.40pm on Friday, January 12. Shortly after the incident, 71-year-old Tony Ryan, who had rushed to the scene because his partner worked in the store, collapsed and died.

Police have now released CCTV footage featuring a man on a bicycle which was taken around the time of the incident.

Detectives are keen to speak to a number of people believed to have been in the vicinity both immediately before and after the robbery.

Detective Inspector Mick Carr of Saltcoats CID said: "From local enquiries we have established that there were a number of people in the vicinity of the newsagents around the time of the robbery.

“We are keen to trace and speak with the male on this CCTV footage who was seen cycling in the vicinity around the time of this incident.”
