A DRIVER was taken to hospital after their car struck the central reservation on the Saltcoats to Stevenston bypass this morning (Tuesday).
At 5.45am, police received reports of a crash on the A78 southbound after the Sharphill Roundabout.
Officers attended at the scene and the driver of the car was taken to hospital by ambulance as a precaution.
The road was opened almost two hours later at 7.35am.
The A78 is one of the many roads in North Ayrshire in the trunk road network and maintanaince and gritting is the responsibility of Scotland Transerv.
