THE latest event held to raise funds for the Bobby Lennox Statue Campaign has been hailed a big success.

Taking place at St Matthew’s Academy, the event included a screening of a classic match between Celtic and Real Madrid with merchandise on sale to punters.

Hosted by Celtic TV’s own Gerry McCulloch and attended by Bobby himself, those who went along enjoyed a fascinating day looking back at a small piece of the career of the Buzz Bomb.

A committee spokesperson said: “We want to thank everyone that came along and people who supported us with getting the day up and running. Was great to give people the chance to come along and meet Bobby and get photos.

“We raised over £1,500 on the day. At the start we set a target of two years fundraising so we are in good shape with a few more events coming this year but still need all the support we can get!

“If anyone wishes to donate they can by finding us on Facebook or twitter @bobbylennox67 or email bobbylennox1967@gmail. com.

“We still have t-shirts for sale and signed prints.”
