LOCALS are being warned after a bogus caller incident in Saltcoats.
A warning was publicised by Saltcoats Community Council on social media and police have confirmed that they are aware of a matter involving a bogus grass cutter last month.
In the post, Saltcoats Community Council said: "It has came to my attention that older people in the Three Towns are being tackled about having their grass cut for a reduced price of £30 per year if they pay in cash, once inside the house the two (people) grab the purse or wallet and run.
"Please keep yourself, relatives neighbours etc safe don't encourage them and don't invite anyone into your home. Hope we can spread the word to the good people of Saltcoats and our neighbouring towns."
Chief Inspector Brian Shaw said: "We welcome the involvement of Saltcoats Community Council. We would advise, especially in the lead up to the summer, for all residents to be extra vigilant when people cold call. We are aware of an incident of February 24 and ask anyone to come forward if they have any information."
