An Ardrossan schoolgirl raised £230 for the MS Society by organising an afternoon tea and bake sale in her home.

Kind-hearted Morgan Millar, who goes to Mayfield Primary in Saltcoats, wanted to support the charity because her aunt has MS.

The 11-year-old came up with the idea herself and organised everything for the fundraiser, from the first email right through to sourcing of donations and raffle prizes, to baking her own cakes.

Morgan’s mum, Lee-Ann Millar, said: “My sister has MS and she’s very close to my sister and she’s always been that kind of person that likes to help others.

“She came to ask her dad and I if she could do something to help Aunty Jade so she emailed the MS Society and they said that’s a lovely suggestion and gave her some ideas of things to do.

“She loves to bake, so she baked lots of cakes.

“She did really well. Her dad and I are incredibly proud of her for being so selfless at that age, not just on that day – she had to do all the prep herself.

“She approached businesses for donations and that’s not an easy thing to go and ask.

“We’re immensely proud of her for being so kind. She put in all her Easter holidays to organise this.”

Lee-Ann added: “She held it at home as she wanted a homely environment for everyone to feel comfy and also so that all the children could play in her garden together and not get bored.”

Morgan would like to thank all the local businesses that helped.
