A fundraising gig to support children at two North Ayrshire ASN schools raised £700.

The event was in aid of The Butterfly Club, an Ardrossan-based charity which aims to provide a holiday club for kids at James McFarlane and Haysholm to reduce their isolation.

Canadian band Cherry Suede headlined the gig at Saltcoats Bowling Club on Saturday, April 7.

Kerensa Clarke, organiser of the fundraiser, said: “It was brilliant. Everybody there enjoyed it and they loved Cherry Suede.

“It was a great night. Some of the kids [from the schools] were there at the start and they had a great time.

“Cherry Suede gave Alfie Curran, a boy that goes to The Butterfly Club, a free CD.

“Also, a girl thought she won passes to their shows next week but her raffle ticket was the wrong colour but they gave her tickets for the Saturday show anyway.

“They also shouted any of the musicians that played if they wanted to do a last song with them.”
