THE Butterfly Club have been awarded over £70,000, thanks to Children in Need.

The £73,480 in funding will provide a summer club for children and young people with complex and additional needs.

The news means that the charity has more than £503,000 invested across North Ayrshire to transform young lives.

Over the next three years, the money will help to fund staff, trips and activities aimed at boosting self-confidence and reducing the social isolation of local under-18s.

The project delivers a programme of activities that are physically and mentally challenging, and run out of James McFarlane School in Ardrossan.

On-site, a hydrotherapy pool, sensory room and a large outdoor space, give children the chance to enjoy a fun and relaxing time with friends, whilst being fully supported by trained staff. Children also benefit from activities that take place off-site, which encourage them to interact socially within their local community and increase their access to services, and include tubing at the dry ski slopes, cycling on all-ability bikes, go-carting and soft play.

Emma Lambert, Chairperson at Butterfly Club said: “Thanks to this grant, we can continue to provide this essential service, which not only benefits the children who attend, but the families who sometimes feel extra pressure around the summer holidays.”
