CELTIC and Scotland legend Bobby Lennox will be guest of honour at the North Ayrshire Heritage Centre on Saturday.
The Lisbon Lion and Saltcoats resident will be at the venue along with a replica of the European Cup - famously won by Bobby and his Hoops team-mates in 1967.
Visitors will be able to get their picture taken with the trophy – which will be at the Heritage Centre from 2-4.30pm - in what is a fantastic opportunity for football fans.
It all happens just a few hours before Liverpool and Real Madrid battle it out in the Champions League final – the modern-day equivalent of the European Cup - in Kiev.
It has been a football-flavoured few weeks for the Heritage Centre.
Last month a Junior Football exhibition opened at the Saltcoats venue featuring a wealth of souvenirs and keepsakes linked to junior football in North Ayrshire covering our local
clubs
Councillor Louise McPhater, Cabinet Member for Communities, said: “The Junior Football festival has proved hugely popular so football fans are in for another treat on Saturday.
“The European Cup is one of the biggest – if not the biggest – in the
game so it’s a great opportunity for people to see it, get their picture
taken and also meet a legend of the game.”
The Junior Football in North Ayrshire exhibition is open to the public on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 9.30am-1pm and 2pm-4.30pm
and on the last Saturday of each
month.
