Councillors Davina McTiernan and Jean McClung recently visited the Saltcoats premises of Women’s Aid to hand over a cheque for £140.
The money was raised at an event in Largs, at which journalist Peter Bell spoke to interested groups from all over North Ayrshire about the issues facing Scotland now and in the future.
Women’s Aid is a vital resource for women from all over North Ayrshire who are in abusive relationships. This abuse comes in many forms and is not restricted to physical violence, but can can also involve emotional and psychological manipulation.
Chief Officer for NA Women’s Aid , Mary Beglan (pictured centre) was delighted to accept this donation, and pointed out that women who feel they need support from the organisation are invited to drop into the centre at 1-5 Union Street, Saltcoats or to phone (01294)602424 for advice.
