RUGBY is set to flourish from 'grass-roots' level after it was revealed Ardrossan Academy and Irvine Royal Academy will benefit from a £50,000 investment as they are established as Schools of Rugby.
North Ayrshire Council's Chief Executive Elma Murray announced the new partnership between the local authority, Scottish Rugby Union, KA Leisure and Ardrossan Academicals, Garnock and Irvine rugby clubs.
As well as the cash investment Ardrossan Academy and Irvine Royal Academy will be supported by a full-time rugby development officer, while a part-time rugby development officer will also be based at Garnock Rugby Club.
