KARATE CHAMP ARIA TAKES PARIS BY STORM

EUROPEAN Championship success has been achieved by a Three Towns club for the first time in their history thanks to a stunning performance from a talented Saltcoats youngster.

Aria Pascual (11) represented the Japan Karate Association local group in the JKA European Children's Championships in Paris recently and secured a gold medal after clinching first place in individual kumite (fighting) and was also placed third equal in the 11 Years Girls Team Kumite event, earning a bronze medal.

This was an improvement on her haul of two bronze medals and a silver in last year's event.
