A FISHERMAN and his dog were dramatically rescued for a 30-hour ordeal at sea on Monday night.

The man's boat - the Destiny, believed to be from West Kilbride - caught fire and sank off Ardrossan that afternoon and he was finally saved near Troon after firing off the final flare from his dinghy.

The Destiny has sailed out of Whiting Bay and was reported as overdue at 2pm on Sunday.
