THE spark will be brought back to Saltcoats and Stevenston after Councillor Jim Montgomerie vowed to reignite the fireworks display to the area.

After the annual display was cancelled last year due to a lack of funding and leadership Mr Montgomerie told the Herald on Friday that he will spearhead a campaign to fund a dazzling display.

He said: "I'm going to bring back the fireworks to Saltcoats. I'll helped bring back the fireworks in about 2008 and about 3,000 to 4,000 people turned out for the event. It's a great thing for families of the towns and not everyone can afford the buy fireworks.
