A BEITH wildlife charity responded to an unusual call last week when a dead dolphin was found on Stevenston Beach.
Volunteers from Hessilhead Wildlife Rescue Trust helped removed the carcase of the two-metre-long mammal which may have been injured by a propeller or even maimed by a member of the public.
Volunteer Gay Christie said the centre received a call from the Scottish Marine Animal Stranding Scheme, based at the Scottish Rural College in Inverness, who asked if the centre could collect a dead dolphin that had been reported on Stevenston Beach a mile or so from the car park.
